One Day a Week CMO for Hire

I’m opening up some time for fractional consultancy – typically one day a week – to support growing businesses that need senior marketing thinking, but don’t need (or can’t justify) a full-time CMO.

Maybe you have a solid marketing manager who just needs someone to bounce ideas off, get a steer from, and grow into their next level. Or maybe things are going well, but marketing decisions are starting to feel a bit too complex for generalists – and it’s a bit too early for a full-time C-suite hire. That’s where I work best.

What you get is clear, senior input one day a week to help guide your strategy and support your team. I can provide mentoring, structure, and clarity for your existing marketers, and help build the rhythm and reporting that makes marketing not just busy, but effective. I’m not about fluff or long decks, just honest advice, sleeves rolled up, and a focus on what works.

I’ve got real board level experience, currently a CMO and board member at Northcoders PLC, where I work four days a week, and previously part of the board at a five-agency group. My background’s in digital marketing so I’m as comfortable getting stuck in as I am helping shape the big picture.

I typically help with:

  • Shaping marketing strategy that actually connects to business goals
  • Getting positioning and messaging right – the stuff that makes everything else easier
  • Supporting internal teams with mentoring and direction
  • Launching new products or propositions with a proper go-to-market plan
  • Acting as a bridge between marketing and founders or the board

I’m probably a good fit if your business is growing fast and you can’t keep all the marketing decisions in your head anymore. Or if you’ve got a good in-house team but they’d benefit from someone experienced to support them. Or maybe you just want someone you can trust to ask the right questions and help you build a plan that works.

I’ve worked with startups, scale-ups, and big names like Manchester City FC, University of Manchester, Kellogg’s, Swinton Insurance, Pets at Home — and more recently, helped lead the growth of Northcoders by 57% (£5.6m > £8.8m)

I’m based in Manchester but I work with businesses across the UK. Remote or in person, whatever suits.
